Applicature is a Web3 venture studio dedicated to supporting projects in the blockchain space, helping teams at any stage—from concept to successful market launch.
Founded by Ian Arden, the company was inspired by his early interest in AI and the potential of smart contracts to revolutionize business processes with transparency and verifiability. In this interview with Website Planet, Arden shares how Applicature continues to push forward, focusing on technological advancement despite challenges in the industry.
With a unique approach to aligning interests between founders and clients, Applicature is paving the way for the future of Web3 technologies and their role in shaping governance and societal progress.
Introduce Applicature to our audience, please.
Applicature is a Web3 venture building house, or venture studio, dedicated to helping projects in the Web3 space. We support teams from any starting point, whether they’re at the idea stage or further along, all the way to a successful market launch. Our focus is on driving product and technology development, along with fostering user adoption to ensure a strong foundation for their growth in the Web3 ecosystem.
Share the narrative of your company: What inspired the concept, and how has it progressed to date?
I first became interested in AI around 2016 or 2017. At that time, I believed that AI would be concentrated in the hands of a few tech giants, which has largely become the case over the years. However, I was also passionate about a technology that could shift the narrative and offer something truly innovative. That’s when I came across smart contracts—the programming layer that brings verifiability and transparency to business processes, financial rules, and almost any kind of application. I realized that smart contracts had the potential to change the world, and it was this belief that inspired me to start the company.
Over time, however, my expectations were met with the reality that the space was more focused on ICOs, shiny tokens, and speculative investments than on technological advancement. This has been a challenge for us, but we’ve continued to push forward by developing technology tools and software development kits to help technologists bootstrap their projects.
Our business model has always been aligned with the founders we work with. We charge both a cash component and a token component, which creates a strong alignment of interests—a win-win for both parties.
Could you outline the services you provide?
We offer end-to-end acceleration, starting with concept development, white paper design, and token economics. We also handle token utility, investor relations, marketing, token creation, launchpad services, and the full technology build-out for the project.
What is the overarching mission of Applicature?
My personal background as a technologist strongly influences the mission of the company. At its core, Applicature is focused on Web3 technology and its long-term promotion as a means to enhance transparency and efficiency. With recent political shifts, particularly in the US, we’re seeing a trend where technocrats—those who are more technologically savvy—are gaining political power. If this trend continues, we may see technology playing an even larger role in governance, where efficiency and productivity are prioritized.
In this future, Web3 and transparent, auditable smart contracts could play a crucial part in shaping government policies and improving public-private dialogue. Governments could become more focused on efficiency, and Web3 technologies could help achieve this through better accountability and fairer distribution of wealth.
I envision Web3 being used for noble causes—fighting poverty, improving wealth distribution, and ensuring financial rights are shared equitably within various ecosystems. While we’re not there yet, I believe that in the future, even governments will use blockchain for transparency, such as providing clear information to taxpayers. While it’s taking longer than I would like, I remain optimistic that we’ll eventually see meaningful adoption of these technologies in the public sector.
What distinguishes you from other companies in the same domain?
We’ve been in the industry for a long time and have always focused on working with solid clients and partners, as well as on strong, viable ideas. We’ve turned down many projects that didn’t meet our criteria or standards. Our ability to advise across various aspects of the business, prevent potential mistakes, and protect founders from common pitfalls, along with our technical expertise, are key differentiators that set us apart.
What is your vision for the future of your industry?
I believe that over time, technologists will play an increasingly prominent role in politics and government. The technology, and the applications built on it, will be essential to how society operates. I see a bright future ahead, but it’s difficult to predict exactly when we’ll see this vision fully realized.
